When I graduated from high school in the summer of 2005 I had a keen interest in Web and Software Development. Right after high school I spent time learning HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL. I knew where my calling was so I did not hesitate to enroll myself in college. In 2011, I graduated from CSULA with a Bachelor's in Computer Science with an even stronger passion for web development.
During the last year of college I had started working for an up and coming tortilla bakery company. Now I know how that may sound, but when I realized this company was working without an IT and software development team I saw an empty canvas where I could introduce new software and build an intranet site which would greatly improve efficiency and reduce user error. Even though this software is still under development and with only one developer working on it, myself, I see this software becoming a huge success and a potential benefit to the company or even to other companies.
One major project I have undertaken has been Tanooki Press, a video game news site. I took on this project with a friend, David Sanchez, who is a games journalist for other major sites. We decided to build a fully functional website with reviews, videos, and a podcast. In the near future I will be introducing an iPhone, iPad, and Android app. We hope to get a few new writers in the upcoming months, so we are very excited.
I still love to refine my skills and constantly obtain new ones. Every single project I work on, whether it is a freelance job or an assignment for the company I work for, I treat it as if it were my own project–I keep my eye on perfection.
